Advancing Youth Justice

The Transforming Justice Coalition created an educational and empowerment toolkit designed to help justice-impacted youth and their families navigate the legal system with confidence. By translating complex legal jargon into clear, accessible language, the toolkit provides a plain-language roadmap of what to expect throughout the court process.

Inspired & Guided by Youth

This resource grew directly out of questions from youth in the PATHFinder Club at Multnomah County Donald E. Long (DEL) Juvenile Detention. They wanted straightforward answers about court proceedings, self-advocacy, local resources, and common legal terms. To ensure the toolkit truly reflects community needs, we partnered directly with DEL youth for feedback and to refine the content alongside the Multnomah County Juvenile Justice Steering Committee.

Next Steps & Statewide Reach

The finalized toolkit will soon be accessible across key system checkpoints—including inside DEL, courtrooms, service provider offices, and directly through juvenile court counselors. Following its Multnomah County launch, we plan to replicate this collaborative model with county partners across Oregon.
